Giovanni Veronesi to host previews for new film ‘Dio ride’ in Italy

Director Giovanni Veronesi will participate in upcoming previews for his new film, ‘Dio ride’, in the Veneto region of Italy. The film, which served as the closing title for the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, is scheduled for a wide theatrical release in Italy on October 29, 2026.

In Due Carrare, Veronesi will meet with the audience at Cineplex Moderno on Thursday, October 1, at 20:00. In Verona, the director will host a screening and discussion at Cinema Kappadue on Friday, October 2, at 20:30, with the debate moderated by Alberto Rizzi.

Set in the 17th century and inspired by real events, ‘Dio ride’ stars Pierfrancesco Favino as Fra Leopoldo da Casamacchia, a preacher whose unconventional views on the relationship between humanity and the divine attract the attention of the Roman Curia. The plot follows an inquisitorial process led by Cardinal Vincenzo Maculani, played by Silvio Orlando, which evolves into a complex confrontation of religious certainties. The cast also includes Paolo Rossi.
