Giovanni Veronesi’s film ‘Dio ride’ holds special Italian previews

The new film ‘Dio ride’, written and directed by Giovanni Veronesi, is holding special previews across Italy ahead of its official theatrical release on October 29. The film, which served as the closing work of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, features Pierfrancesco Favino as the protagonist, Leopoldo, and Silvio Orlando as Cardinal Maculani.

Set in the 17th century and inspired by real events, the story follows a friar who challenges ecclesiastical and political authority by using humor and laughter to spread the Gospel among the humble.

Special screening events include a premiere at the Multicinema Arca in Spoltore on October 7, where Veronesi will meet the audience. Additionally, special screenings are scheduled at Cinema Gabbiano in Senigallia and Masetti Cinema in Fano, featuring live video connections with Veronesi and Favino from Lucca.
