Giro della Campania returns to professional cycling after 25 years

The Giro della Campania returns to the professional cycling calendar on Sunday, September 20, after a 25-year hiatus. The 64th edition of the race is a UCI 1.1 category event covering 193.1 kilometers across all five provinces of the Campania region.

The race will begin at the Reggia di Caserta (Piazza Carlo di Borbone) at 10:00 and is expected to conclude in Naples at Piazza del Plebiscito around 15:30. The route traverses diverse landscapes, including Sannio, Irpinia, the Agro Nocerino, Cava de’ Tirreni, and the Amalfi Coast, featuring a climb at Agerola before descending toward the coast.

Significant traffic disruptions and road closures are planned. In Benevento, several roads including the West and East Tangenziale and Via Luigi Sturzo will be closed to all vehicular traffic and public transport. In Naples, parking bans and road closures will be implemented on various coastal and central streets, such as Via delle Ninfe and Via Cristoforo Colombo, from early morning until late afternoon.

The professional startlist includes notable riders such as Luke Plapp and Andrea Vendrame from Jayco AlUla, as well as Einer Rubio from the Movistar Academy team.
