Giro d’Italia per la Pace brings Lamp of Peace to Italian cities

The Giro d’Italia per la Pace, an initiative promoted by the Fondazione Perugia Assisi to commemorate the eighth centenary of Saint Francis of Assisi’s journey, is traveling across Italy. The project, organized by the National Coordination of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights, aims to transform participating cities into permanent centers for peace education and dialogue.

In Rosate, the event includes preparatory meetings on September 16 and 20, featuring a reflection led by Pax Christi Italia and the arrival of the Lampada della Pace (Lamp of Peace) from Assisi. The official march in Rosate is scheduled for October 4, 2026, following a route through the town's main streets.

Ancona will host the Lampada della Pace by sea at Banchina San Francesco on September 21, 2026. Titled ‘Francesco e il mare dell’incontro’, the event involves local institutions, schools, and associations, aligning with Ancona’s path toward becoming the Italian Capital of Culture in 2028.
