Gironde and Landes wildfire relief efforts launch through donations and auctions

Various organizations are launching fundraising initiatives to support victims of the devastating wildfires that struck the Gironde and Landes regions in late July. The fires destroyed approximately 42,000 hectares, forced the evacuation of 220,000 people, and leveled more than 240 homes.

The Rotary Club Agde-Cap d’Agde has contributed 500 euros to a dedicated account managed by Rotary International’s District 1700. This effort is part of a larger regional mobilization between districts that has raised over 74,000 euros for those affected.

In a separate solidarity effort, the rugby club Union Bordeaux Bègles is hosting an auction via the Bidding Sport platform. The auction features 23 match-worn jerseys from their game against Racing 92, as well as a signed match ball and a team-signed jersey. All proceeds from the sale will be distributed to wildfire victims through the Fondation de France.
