Gironde wildfire recovery costs estimated at 9 million euros

In the Gironde department of France, the financial impact of summer wildfires is estimated at nearly 9 million euros. The crisis has transitioned from immediate emergency response to long-term recovery efforts, including psychological support, road repairs, and the relocation of displaced residents.

As of early September, the Gironde Relogement Solidaire cell has assisted 199 households, with 92 finding temporary housing for one to two years to allow for home reconstruction. A significant portion of these cases, 161 out of 199, originate from the commune of Le Porge. Social workers continue to conduct numerous interviews daily to address ongoing administrative, financial, and housing needs in affected areas such as Lège-Cap-Ferret and Lanton.
