Girondins de Bordeaux fights relegation in administrative court

Girondins de Bordeaux is facing a critical legal battle to avoid relegation to the regional leagues. Following a negative advisory from the CNOSF, the French Football Federation (FFF) moved to relegate the club, a decision the club is now contesting before the Administrative Court of Paris.

The club's new owner, Sparta Capital, aims to demonstrate financial viability to secure reintegration into National 1. Legal representatives for the club argue that the relegation process was procedurally flawed, as they were unable to present new financial guarantees during previous conciliation efforts.

To support their case, the club has announced significant financial backing, including €10 million already deposited with the Caisse des dépôts, an additional €10 million guaranteed by JP Morgan, and a commitment from Sparta Capital to inject €20 million to settle existing debts. Former player and coach Alain Giresse has publicly supported the move, stating that the necessary funds are present and that the club should be judged on its current financial stability rather than past mismanagement.
