Girondins de Bordeaux seek €10 million to overturn relegation
The Girondins de Bordeaux football club filed an appeal to the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) after the DNCG decision to relegate them to the regional league. The club must prove by the end of the week that it has secured €9‑10 million to meet the financial requirements for the 2025‑26 and 2026‑27 seasons.
Investor fund Sparta Capital is working to raise the needed funds, with talks indicating the capital raise is progressing. If the appeal succeeds, the French Football Federation could reinstate Bordeaux in National 1. The club’s management, including director Arnaud Saint‑André, has also secured reduced stadium lease terms with Bordeaux Métropole as part of the financial plan.
