Giuseppe Di Mare wins re‑election as mayor of Augusta, Sicily

Incumbent mayor Giuseppe Di Mare was confirmed for a second term in the Augusta municipal elections held on 24‑25 May 2026. Preliminary results show Di Mare leading with 4,992 votes (about 56 % of the total), while his challengers Salvo Pancari and Concetto Cacciaguerra received 857 and 123 votes respectively. Voter turnout was recorded at 61.15%, with 20,073 citizens casting ballots.

Di Mare’s coalition secured 14 of the 24 council seats, granting him a solid majority. His platform emphasizes development of the city’s port, blue‑economy initiatives such as offshore wind and Special Economic Zones, upgrades to the Muscatello hospital, new urban parks, mobility improvements, and investments in schools and nurseries.
