GKV-Spitzenverband criticizes hospitals over budget cut claims

Stefanie Stoff-Ahnis, deputy chairwoman of the GKV-Spitzenverband, has criticized hospitals for protesting potential budget cuts despite receiving significant additional funding. According to Stoff-Ahnis, hospitals are set to receive at least 6.6 billion euros in additional funds from statutory health insurance funds next year, representing an increase in revenue of approximately 5.5 percent compared to the current year.

Stoff-Ahnis stated that these funds are sufficient to ensure patient care, maintain salaries for medical and nursing staff, and manage necessary structural changes. She expressed a lack of understanding regarding hospital representatives who describe the situation in dire terms, noting that hospitals appear to be the only industry complaining of cuts while experiencing such revenue growth. She urged the sector to move from a mode of protest to a constructive approach to reform.
