Glinka State Academic Capella performs in Niš
The Glinka State Academic Capella of Saint Petersburg performed a sold-out concert at the Svetosavski Dom in Niš, Serbia. Conducted by Ilya Derbilov, the program featured a blend of spiritual and secular works, including fragments from Sergei Rachmaninoff’s ‘All-Night Vigil’.
To bridge Russian and Serbian choral traditions, the ensemble also performed Stevan Mokranjac’s ‘Fifth Manuscript’. The event fostered collaboration between the Glinka Choir and the Niš Church and Choral Ensemble Branko, led by conductor Sara Cincarević. The two groups have a long-standing relationship and concluded the performance with a joint rendition of ‘Mnogoaja Leta’.
The concert was held with the blessing of Metropolitan Arsenije of Niš and was organized by the Cathedral Administration and the Branko Ensemble, with support from the City of Niš. This marks the fourth visit by the Glinka Choir to Niš, having previously performed in the city in 1999.
