Global Alliance for Two-State Solution launches technical sessions in Italy

Technical sessions of the Global Alliance for the Two-State Solution began this afternoon at Italy's Foreign Ministry (Farnesina). The meetings are co‑presided by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Saudi Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, with participation from Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian, U.S. senior advisor Aryeh Lightstone and UN High Representative for Gaza Nickolay Mladenov attending remotely. Around 30 delegations, including the co‑chairs of the eight New York conference working groups, are reviewing progress on the New York Declaration and exploring new synergies for the peace process, including implementation of UN resolution 2803 and the Board of Peace. The Alliance, launched in 2024 by Saudi Arabia, Norway and the EU, aims to formulate guiding principles and proposals for a two‑state solution, building on the final New York Declaration co‑presided by France and Saudi Arabia in July 2025. Sessions will continue tomorrow, ending with a closed‑door inter‑religious dialogue.
