Global beach cleanup initiative includes Ereaga and Playa Unión

A global simultaneous beach cleanup initiative is set to take place, involving various locations including Ereaga in Spain and Playa Unión in Argentina.

In Ereaga, the association Ola sin plástico is organizing a waste collection event on Saturday. This effort is part of the Arena Limpia project, which coordinates simultaneous cleanups across fifteen Spanish beaches and locations in Chile, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Volunteers in Ereaga will collect, classify, and weigh waste, with a specific call to bring non-functional pens for sustainable disposal.

In Rawson, Argentina, municipal official Miguel Larrauri announced a coastal cleanup at Playa Unión to encourage community environmental commitment. The municipality will provide supplies to collect debris, which often includes plastics, fishing nets, and cigarette butts. Additionally, the municipality is planning an environmental program in the Puerto neighborhood for late October, featuring cleaning operations and a free animal sterilization campaign using a mobile veterinary unit.
