Global capital markets see record IPO growth and rising real estate investment
Global capital markets have seen significant activity in the second quarter, driven by record-breaking initial public offerings (IPOs). According to an EY analysis, the total IPO issuance volume grew massively to 144.8 billion US dollars, the highest level since 2003. This surge was largely propelled by SpaceX, which executed the largest IPO in history with an issuance volume of 86.2 billion dollars.
Other notable market movements include the Chinese chipmaker Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT), which saw its stock price surge by 535 percent on its first day of trading, reaching a market valuation of approximately 530 billion dollars. Additionally, the gas engine manufacturer Innio successfully went public in New York, raising 2.4 billion dollars.
In the real estate sector, global investment volume reached approximately 250 billion US dollars in the second quarter, a 13 percent increase compared to the previous year. Savills reports that while investors are becoming more selective due to macroeconomic uncertainties and geopolitical tensions, a robust deal pipeline suggests continued growth potential for the remainder of the year.
