Global currency performance report shows Colombian Peso leading gains against US Dollar

A report analyzing the performance of 36 major global currencies against the US Dollar through June 2026, based on data from Deutsche Bank, reveals significant volatility in the foreign exchange market.

The Colombian Peso emerged as the top performer with a 19.2% increase against the US Dollar. It was followed by the Israeli Shekel, which rose by 13.2%, and the Hungarian Forint, which saw an 8.9% gain. Other notable performers in the top five include the South African Rand (8.1%) and the Mexican Peso (7.7%).

In contrast, the report highlights extreme performance gaps within Latin America. While the Colombian Peso led the rankings, the Argentine Peso saw a sharp decline of 18.9% against the US Dollar. The data suggests that higher interest rates and increased demand for national assets are key drivers in strengthening certain currencies.
