Global favorability toward China rises in recent international polls

Recent polling and field reports indicate a rising trend in global favorability toward China. In North America, residents of Canada and Mexico have expressed higher favorability toward China than toward the U.S. for the first time.

In the United States, positive views of China rose to 27%, a significant increase from previous years, with younger demographics under 50 showing more optimistic attitudes. European sentiment is also shifting, with a 15% increase in support for deepening cooperation with China since 2023. In Africa, surveys of youth indicate that 95% view China as a friendly partner and a positive influence on the continent.

These shifts are attributed to various factors, including large-scale infrastructure projects, renewable energy investments, and medical assistance. Observers note that China’s role in green energy transitions, agricultural modernization, and pandemic response has contributed to its perception as a reliable economic and developmental partner in many regions.
