Global GPU shipments rise 10% driven by laptop demand

Global GPU shipments for PCs grew by 10.4% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026, reaching 75.5 million units, according to data from Jon Peddie Research (JPR). Despite high component prices, the market saw significant growth driven primarily by the mobile sector.

Shipments for notebook GPUs surged by 16.8% compared to the previous quarter, while the desktop dedicated GPU market experienced a 4% decline. This shift reflects a broader trend in consumer computing, where laptops now account for 78% of CPU shipments, leaving desktops at 22%.

In terms of market share, Intel maintains a dominant position with approximately 56% of the total market, largely due to the high volume of integrated graphics (iGPU) included in its chips. In the dedicated GPU (dGPU) segment, Nvidia remains a leader. AMD and Intel also reported solid CPU sales growth, increasing by 12.74% and 8.99% respectively compared to the first quarter.
