Global Green Growth Institute expands climate partnerships with Abu Dhabi and Kazakhstan
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has expanded its international partnerships through new agreements with Abu Dhabi and Kazakhstan to advance climate-resilient economic development.
In Seoul, the Environment Agency — Abu Dhabi (EAD) signed an amendment to its cooperation agreement with GGGI, extending the partnership until 2029. The updated agreement focuses on carbon management, climate adaptation, sustainable finance, and the circular economy. This collaboration follows the successful development of Abu Dhabi’s unified Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system, which has transitioned from a voluntary program to a legally mandated framework for major emitting sectors.
Simultaneously, GGGI and the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a Host Country Agreement (HCA) in Seoul. This agreement establishes GGGI’s legal status within Kazakhstan, allowing the organization to scale up direct support to national institutions. The partnership aims to mobilize expertise and investment for projects involving clean energy, hydrogen, water management, and low-carbon urban development, utilizing technologies such as AI to support Kazakhstan’s green transition.
