Global initiatives promote breastfeeding awareness during World Breastfeeding Week
During World Breastfeeding Week, various organizations in Mexico and Uruguay held initiatives to promote and support breastfeeding practices.
In Mexico, the National System for Integral Family Development (SNDIF) and the State of Mexico's DIFEM collaborated on an interactive fair in Toluca. The event provided specialized advice, workshops, and guidance to mothers and families. Officials emphasized that breastfeeding should be a shared responsibility among families, health sectors, workplaces, and society to ensure a sustainable start for infants.
In Paysandú, Uruguay, Aldeas Infantiles organized a community workshop focused on breastfeeding information, family support, and human milk donation. The initiative, supported by the local Human Milk Collection Center and the Ministry of Public Health, aimed to strengthen the networks that assist women throughout the breastfeeding process. The activities aligned with the global campaign theme, “Breastfeeding for a sustainable beginning in life: strengthening what works.”
