Overview
Following the global campaign for World Breastfeeding Week 2026, themed ‘Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works’, regional initiatives continued to focus on community engagement and public awareness.
In Mexico, the National System for Integral Family Development (SNDIF) and the State of Mexico’s DIFEM hosted an interactive fair in Toluca. Led by the Mesa de Infancia y Primera Infancia de Lavalleja, the project aimed to promote breastfeeding as a ‘collective responsibility’ and a vital element for child development and maternal bonding, with hospital director Dr. Tania Zipitría noting its role as a ‘permanent immunization’ for children.
