Global Military Products unveils Scorpion Medium 120mm mortar system
Global Military Products (GMP) has unveiled the Scorpion Medium, a 120mm mobile mortar system integrated onto an Infantry Squad Vehicle-Utility (ISV-U). The system is being showcased alongside the 75th Ranger Regiment at the Army’s Maneuver Warfighting Conference at Fort Benning, Georgia.
The Scorpion Medium is described as the first and only auto-laying 120mm mobile mortar system integrated on an ISV-U. It features an all-electric design and an auto-laying baseplate capable of emplace and displace operations in approximately 10 seconds. The system can carry up to 16 rounds and is designed to fire from various surfaces, including concrete and pavement.
A key feature of the Scorpion Medium is its 95% parts commonality with the Scorpion Light 81mm system, which is already under contract with the U.S. Army. This commonality is intended to allow the Army to leverage existing architecture investments for faster and more cost-effective integration of fire control systems while providing enhanced capabilities for light infantry units.
