US Army Scorpion mobile mortar system integration

Overview

The US Army has initiated the integration of the Scorpion Light 81 mm Mobile Mortar System onto the Infantry Squad Vehicle–Utility (ISV-U) through a $12.9 million contract awarded to Global Military Products (GMP). Developed by the Spanish company NTGS, the system is designed to provide rapid indirect fire support for Mobile Brigade Combat Teams, allowing a vehicle to deploy, fire eight rounds, and relocate in under two minutes.

Following this development, GMP unveiled the Scorpion Medium, a 120mm mobile mortar system also integrated onto the ISV-U. Showcased at the Army’s Maneuver Warfighting Conference, the Scorpion Medium is an all-electric, auto-laying system capable of emplace and displace operations in approximately 10 seconds. The 120mm system maintains a 95% parts commonality with the previously contracted 81mm Scorpion Light system to leverage existing architecture investments.
