Global Ports Holding to invest 104.5 million euros in Barcelona
Global Ports Holding (GPH) has received approval from the Barcelona Port Board to proceed with a 104.5 million euro investment in the Barcelona Cruise Port. The project includes the construction of a new 11,253 square meter passenger terminal, designated as Terminal C, on the Adossat Quay.
Of the total investment, over 50 million euros will be dedicated directly to the construction of the terminal building, while the remaining funds will support access roads, transport areas, and other infrastructure. The new facility is designed to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency through sustainable features, including solar energy systems and Onshore Power Supply (OPS) infrastructure to allow ships to connect to the electrical grid while docked.
As part of the agreement, GPH’s operating concession, which was originally set to expire in 2030, has been extended to 2050. The revised contract also includes an option to further extend the operating period until 2053.
