Globo announces Avenida Brasil 2 premiere for January 2027

Globo has confirmed that the sequel to the hit telenovela ‘Avenida Brasil 2’ is scheduled to premiere on January 25, 2027, in its 9 p.m. time slot. Written by João Emanuel Carneiro and directed by Ricardo Waddington, the production will feature returning lead actors Adriana Esteves, Débora Falabella, and Murilo Benício, alongside new cast member Jéssica Ellen.

Director Ricardo Waddington stated that the sequel aims to preserve the fast-paced narrative style and constant plot developments that defined the original 2012 series. While the core characters of Carminha, Nina, and Tufão remain central, the story will explore previously unexamined contexts and introduce new conflicts.

In related programming, the Turkish adaptation of the original story, titled ‘Leyla: Shadows of the Past’, is available on Globoplay. The Turkish version follows a similar theme of revenge and betrayal, centering on a protagonist named Leyla who seeks justice after being betrayed by her stepmother.
