GloboNews cameraman fired after assaulting journalist at Band

A cameraman contracted by GloboNews has had his contract terminated following an assault on a journalist at the Band studios in São Paulo. The incident occurred in the parking lot prior to a government debate involving candidates Tarcísio de Freitas and Fernando Haddad.

According to reports, the cameraman struck Igor Carvalho, a reporter for Brasil de Fato, with a headbutt, causing nasal bleeding. Carvalho received medical attention from the Fire Department. Band issued a statement repudiating all forms of violence and confirmed the aggressor was removed from the premises.

The cameraman expressed regret for the incident but claimed the altercation followed a period of tension involving verbal provocations and physical contact from other media professionals. He stated that while he does not offer the context as a justification, it is necessary for a full understanding of the event.
