Globoplay launches medical drama series ‘Emergência 53’

Globoplay has released the original medical drama series ‘Emergência 53’, which follows the intense daily routines of professionals working in a mobile emergency unit inspired by the SAMU system. The production features a multi-protagonist approach, focusing on eight main characters, including doctors, nurses, and drivers.

Renowned actress Fernanda Montenegro makes a special appearance as Dona Laura, the mother of the unit's chief physician. Her character is an elderly woman facing a serious degenerative disease while maintaining an adventurous spirit. The series was created and directed by Claudio Torres and Andrucha Waddington, alongside Márcio Maranhão.

To prepare for her role as Manuela, a rookie nurse, actress Valentina Herszage underwent training in real rescue maneuvers, such as performing cardiac massage and using a defibrillator. The series aims to provide an immersive look at the personal motivations and risks faced by public health emergency responders.
