Gniezno projects win Historical Event of the Year awards
Two projects centered on Gniezno and the Piast Trail have won top honors in the 19th edition of the ‘Historical Event of the Year’ plebiscite, organized by the Museum of Polish History.
In the ‘Event’ category, the Gniezno Municipal Cultural Center won for its ‘Gniezno – City of Coronations. A Thousand Years of History’ project. This initiative celebrated the 1,000th anniversary of royal coronations through a series of activities, including medieval dance weekends, handicraft workshops, and an interactive medieval village.
The ‘Education’ category was won by the ‘Piast Trail with LEGO’ project, a collaboration between the Piast Trail Tourist Cluster and the Brzesko Culture and History Center ‘Wahadło’. This mobile exhibition traveled to 19 towns, using LEGO models to depict significant historical sites such as Ostrów Lednicki and the 11th-century Gniezno Cathedral. The project allowed participants to engage with history by building replicas of royal regalia.
