Gniezno historical commemoration projects

Overview

The city of Gniezno has implemented several initiatives to commemorate the millennium of the first royal coronations and the origins of the Polish state.

Initial efforts included the development of a historic video mapping trail. This project, implemented by Wizja Multimedia, utilized modern projections on historic buildings and a water curtain screen on Lake Jelonek to create a 70-minute walking route.

Subsequent commemorative activities, including medieval dance weekends, handicraft workshops, and an interactive medieval village, contributed to the ‘Gniezno – City of Coronations. A Thousand Years of History’ project. Additionally, the ‘Piast Trail with LEGO’ mobile exhibition traveled to 19 towns to depict historical sites through LEGO models. These efforts resulted in multiple honors at the 19th ‘Historical Event of the Year’ awards, with wins in both the ‘Event’ and ‘Education’ categories.
