Stanley Nwabali Rejoins Chippa United Ahead of 2026/27 Season
Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has returned to South African Premier Division side Chippa United five months after leaving the club in February 2026. The Eastern Cape club announced the comeback on its official X account, stating, "Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys" and adding, "After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club." Nwabali’s absence from competitive football affected his match fitness and caused him to lose his place in Nigeria’s senior national team. He hopes regular first‑team action will help him regain form and reclaim the Super Eagles’ No. 1 goalkeeper spot ahead of upcoming international fixtures. The keeper first rose to prominence after strong performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished runner‑up, and attracted interest from clubs in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East before re‑signing with Chippa United for the 2026/27 campaign.
