Goddess Kanaka Durga celebrated during Moola Nakshatram in Vijayawada
During the Dasara Sharannavaratri celebrations, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to offer silk robes to Goddess Kanaka Durga at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple atop Indrakeeladri. The event coincides with Moola Nakshatram, considered the birth star of the deity and a significant day in the festivities.
On this occasion, the Goddess appeared in the form of Sri Saraswati Devi, adorned in white attire. To accommodate an expected turnout of 250,000 to 300,000 devotees, temple authorities have converted all queue lines into free darshan lines. All VIP, protocol, and recommendation-based darshans have been cancelled to prioritize ordinary devotees.
Extensive security and management measures are in place, including the deployment of approximately 3,500 police personnel and 5,000 staff members. Authorities are utilizing 450 CCTV cameras and a central command control room to monitor crowd movement. A crowd prediction system based on real-time arrivals at transport hubs is also being used to regulate queues. Provisions such as drinking water, buttermilk, and food are being distributed to those in line.
