Goiânia and Boa Vista launch upgrades to public lighting networks

The municipality of Goiânia inaugurated an expansion of the public‑lighting system in the Vale das Pombas neighbourhood. Mayor Sandro Mabel opened the work on July 3, which will install 67 street‑lights, six transformers, 4.95 km of low‑voltage and 93.78 m of medium‑voltage lines along Avenida Bela Vista. The project, executed by Equatorial Energia, is funded with a municipal investment of R$ 592,988.31 and aims to improve safety and mobility for residents.

In Boa Vista, the city government began replacing a stolen underground cable network with aerial wiring on the Avenida Brasil segment of BR‑174. Between December 2025 and June 2026, theft of copper cables caused losses exceeding R$ 410,000. To deter further thefts and reduce repair costs, the municipality is installing overhead lines, a change expected to be completed within the same day. Officials emphasized the need for public reporting of suspicious activity to protect the lighting infrastructure.
