Goiânia announces 700 new Municipal Guard positions
The City of Goiânia has announced a public security expansion plan that includes a new civil service examination for 700 Municipal Guard positions. The upcoming contest is expected to offer 200 immediate vacancies and 500 for a reserve list, with the official notice scheduled for publication later this year.
To support this expansion, the municipality is investing in new equipment, including 84 SUVs, 18 motorcycles, and four large vehicles. The operational arsenal will be bolstered by 1,000 pistols, 250 neuromuscular incapacitation weapons, 12 carbines, and 1,000 sprays. Additionally, a virtual shooting training range will be established.
A formal commission has been established to manage the administrative processes of the exam, including selecting the organizing board. To combat copper wire theft, the city is proposing legislation that requires businesses selling copper to prove the material's origin. The administration has also begun replacing copper with aluminum in public lighting to reduce theft incentives.
