Goiânia City Hall seeks legal action to block education strike

The Goiânia City Hall, through its Municipal Attorney General's Office, is preparing legal action to block a strike by administrative education workers. The strike was approved by the Sintego union and is scheduled to begin on August 17.

Local authorities argue the strike is illegal and could disrupt essential services for approximately 120,000 students, particularly affecting early childhood education and school meal programs. To prevent the stoppage, the administration has proposed a salary restructuring plan between 2026 and 2030, involving an annual investment increase from R$ 10.2 million to R$ 62.6 million. The municipality maintains that this phased implementation is necessary to comply with fiscal and contractual limits.
