Goiânia expands primary health care with new clinics and child health day
The municipality of Goiânia, through its Secretaria Municipal de Saúde, held a "Dia D de Saúde da Criança" on 25 July that provided 3,162 services across seven health units, including 713 vaccine doses, 441 medical consultations, 120 dental attendances and numerous women's health procedures. Secretary of Health Luiz Pellizzer highlighted the Saturday schedule as a way to improve access for working families.
In parallel, Goiânia announced a R$ 12.8 million investment to build three new Basic Health Units – Vale dos Sonhos, Santa Fé and Grajaú. The new facilities are expected to handle over 24,000 attendances per month and conduct 32,000 home visits, expanding primary‑care coverage for tens of thousands of residents. The projects combine municipal funds and federal PAC resources and include modern consultation rooms, pharmacy, vaccination sites and telemedicine capabilities.
