Goiânia primary health care expansion
Entities: Secretaria Municipal de Saúde · Vale dos Sonhos Basic Health Unit · Luiz Pellizzer · Santa Fé Basic Health Unit · Municipality of Goiânia
Overview
On 25 July 2026 the city of Goiânia held a "Dia D de Saúde da Criança" across seven health units, offering thousands of services including vaccinations, medical and dental consultations, eye‑care checks and women’s health procedures. Municipal officials highlighted the Saturday schedule as a way to reach families unable to attend weekday appointments.
Following the campaign, the municipality announced a R$ 12.8 million investment to construct three new Basic Health Units—Vale dos Sonhos, Santa Fé and Grajaú. These facilities are expected to handle over 24,000 attendances per month and conduct 32,000 home visits, expanding primary‑care coverage for tens of thousands of residents with modern consultation rooms, pharmacy services, vaccination sites and telemedicine capabilities.
