Brazilian municipalities implement health and education service improvements
Municipal health departments in Brazil are implementing various initiatives to improve public health services and disease management.
In Goiânia, the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) has launched training for professionals to strengthen the diagnosis and treatment of syphilis following a rise in cases, with 2,642 diagnoses recorded so far this year. Additionally, the city has partnered with Einstein Hospital Israelita to optimize processes within its urgent and emergency care network. The city's School Health Program has also reached over 10,000 children and adolescents, administering nearly 8,000 vaccine doses across 145 schools.
In Várzea Grande, the health department, in partnership with the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), has initiated the VigiEPI-MT course. This 80-hour epidemiology training aims to enhance the ability of health professionals to investigate outbreaks and monitor diseases.
In Goiânia, the administrative strike by municipal education workers has concluded following a negotiated career restructuring proposal that includes progressive salary adjustments through 2030.
