Goiânia International Airport runway closes after aircraft engine fire

A Gol aircraft experienced a technical issue involving fire and sparks from one of its engines during takeoff at Goiânia International Airport on Wednesday evening, September 23. The incident caused the temporary closure of the runway for landings and takeoffs.

Videos of the event show flames and sparks emitting from the aircraft shortly after it left the runway. While the exact cause of the fire has not been officially confirmed, the incident led to the cancellation of a Gol flight bound for Brasília and the diversion of four other flights to Brasília. Operations at the airport were temporarily suspended but have since been resumed following safety protocols.
