Goiânia launches Saturday child health campaign, boosting primary care

The city of Goiânia held its "Dia D de Saúde da Criança" on Saturday, July 25, offering medical and nursing consultations, vaccinations, nutritional assessments and disease screening at seven strategically‑located health units from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mayor Sandro Mabel inaugurated the event, emphasizing weekend service to reach families unable to attend on weekdays. The initiative, part of the municipal primary‑care expansion strategy, has previously involved more than 35 units and delivered over 10,000 atendances across its early editions.

Health officials highlighted the active‑search approach, noting that the campaign provides eye‑care vaccinations and other preventive services directly within communities, a move praised by the Ministry of Health for increasing coverage and shifting care from reactive to proactive.
