Goiânia mayor moves municipal executive seat to Campinas neighborhood

On July 8, 2026, Goiânia’s mayor Sandro Mabel symbolically transferred the municipal executive headquarters to the historic Campinas neighborhood to mark its 216th anniversary. The ceremony began with a early‑morning mass, followed by a flag‑raising, a review by the Metropolitan Guard, and the formal handover at Praça Coronel Joaquim Lúcio. Officials, council members, local merchants and residents attended, and food donations were delivered to charitable groups.

During the event, Mabel announced a new Unidade de Pronto Atendimento (UPA) to be built in Campinas, budgeting 26.5 million reais for a Phase III facility capable of serving about 450 patients daily, with construction slated to start in the second half of the year. He also highlighted ongoing municipal plans for infrastructure upgrades, mobility, lighting, and health services in the area.
