Goiás coalition expands finance and political support
Entities: Sandro Mabel · Pafus · Giselle Faria · Pafie · Goiânia
Overview
In early July 2026 Governor Daniel Vilela rolled out a 21‑measure security plan, secured a budget‑guidelines package, delivered 85 zero‑cost homes and announced a R$150 million expansion of Hospital Estadual de Aparecida de Goiânia. Mayor Sandro Mabel of Goiânia advanced health infrastructure with a new 4,000 m² UPA, a Phase III UPA in Campinas and a fiscal‑rating boost that unlocked R$500 million from the federal Climate Fund. On 9 July a Real‑Time Big Data poll showed Vilela leading the state governorship race. On 10 July Mabel launched the Programa de Autonomia Financeira das Unidades de Saúde (Pafus), allocating R$20 million for 2026 – R$10 million transferred immediately and a second tranche slated for September. Each of the 11 emergency units receives R$100 000 and each of the 106 basic health and mental‑health centres gets R$70 000, with unit‑level bank accounts and oversight commissions to speed purchases, repairs and equipment upgrades. The same day Rio Verde mayor Wellington Carrijo publicly endorsed Gracinha Caiado’s pre‑candidacy for the Federal Senate, echoing support from local political leaders and linking the Senate bid to the broader Caiado‑driven transformation of Goiás. On 11 July Vilela opened the sixth edition of Pra Frente Goiás in Campos Belos, foregrounding a R$2.8 billion Aclara Resources mining project, an Israeli‑partnered irrigated fruit‑culture scheme, new polyclinics in Posse and Campos Belos, the delivery of 455 zero‑cost homes and more than R$11 million in security spending. He also endorsed former governor Ronaldo Caiado’s presidential bid, cementing a regional development bloc. A July 27 report highlighted that Goiânia’s autonomy programmes now cover both health (Pafus) and education (Pafie). Under Law No.
