Goiânia resumes use of motorcycle ambulances for SAMU

The Goiânia Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) has resumed the use of motorcycle ambulances (motolâncias) after a ten-year hiatus. Mayor Sandro Mabel delivered seven motorcycles to the service on Friday to facilitate faster response times for emergencies and accidents.

The motorcycles allow professionals to provide immediate first aid and immobilization, helping to determine if a full ambulance is required and preventing unnecessary vehicle deployments. Before deployment, teams will undergo training in partnership with the Goiás Military Fire Department and the Federal Highway Police. This initiative is part of a larger fleet renewal program in Goiânia, which includes the delivery of minivans, vans, and pickups, with a total goal of providing 529 new vehicles across various municipal departments.
