SAMU motorcycle ambulance implementation in Goiânia

Overview

In Goiânia, the Emergency Medical Service (SAMU) has resumed the use of motorcycle ambulances, known as ‘motolâncias’, following a ten-year hiatus. Mayor Sandro Mabel delivered seven motorcycles to the service to improve response times for accidents and emergencies.

The motorcycles are intended to allow professionals to provide immediate first aid and immobilization, which helps determine if a full ambulance deployment is necessary. Before the motorcycles are deployed, teams will receive training through a partnership involving the Goiás Military Fire Department and the Federal Highway Police. This initiative is part of a broader municipal fleet renewal program in Goiânia.
