Goiás and Goiânia implement infrastructure and maintenance works

Various infrastructure and maintenance operations are underway across the state of Goiás and its capital, Goiânia.

The Agência Goiana de Infraestrutura e Transportes (Goinfra) is conducting asphalt recovery, drainage, and signaling works in 20 municipalities. These projects include recapping approximately 106,000 square meters in Valparaíso de Goiás and 88,300 square meters in Novo Gama. Additionally, the GME program is constructing culverts in ten cities, such as Abadia de Goiás and Hidrolândia, which may cause temporary lane reductions.

In Goiânia, the municipal government has intensified the cleaning of the drainage system to prepare for the rainy season. Between January and September 2026, authorities have cleaned over 13,000 storm drains and unblocked nearly 50,000 meters of water channels to mitigate flooding risks exacerbated by El Niño.

Simultaneously, the ‘Operação Cidade Segura’ has removed 203 tons of irregular or unused cabling across 125km of perimeter in Goiânia. This integrated effort between the city government, telecommunications companies, and energy providers aims to regularize 4,621 utility poles and improve urban infrastructure safety.
