Goiás establishes mandatory water and sewage service targets

Goiás has implemented a new set of mandatory indicators and targets for water supply and sewage services through Joint Normative Resolution No. 09/2026. The measure aims to evaluate service coverage, water loss, and quality provided to municipalities.

The regulation establishes annual, progressive, and measurable goals for service providers, specifically targeting the West Basic Sanitation Microregion. Key metrics include water and sewage service indices, distribution losses, potable water quality, and supply intermittency. To achieve excellence in water loss control, the target is set at or below 216 liters per connection per day.

This regulatory framework aligns with guidelines from the National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency (ANA). The regulatory agency (AGR) noted that inspections will be conducted, and sanctions may be applied in cases of failure to meet contractual or legal obligations.
