Golanthara Police arrest inter-state dacoity gang

Golanthara Police have dismantled an organized inter-state dacoity gang operating across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Four individuals—three from Andhra Pradesh and one from Odisha’s Ganjam district—were arrested following a daylight robbery.

The gang allegedly lured victims by offering land and gold at discounted prices. In one specific incident on August 10, a victim was called to Chati Chowk under the pretext of receiving a 35 lakh rupee advance for a land purchase, only to be robbed of his cash and mobile phone by a group in an Innova car.

Authorities recovered 6.92 lakh rupees in cash, 14 mobile phones, a Wi-Fi device, two fake number plates, an Innova vehicle, and eight pieces of fake gold. Investigators noted the gang used sirens to create distractions and frequently changed vehicle number plates to evade detection. Two additional members of the gang remain at large.
