Gold exploration advances in Western Australia

Mining companies in Western Australia have reported significant gold exploration progress. Leeuwin Metals has identified a maiden exploration target at its Marda gold project. The target, spanning six prospects including Die Hardy and Red Legs, is estimated to contain between 142,000oz and 186,000oz of gold. This discovery sits outside the project’s existing 378,600oz resource. The company plans a 10,000m drilling program to upgrade these targets into formal resources, aiming for a total project resource exceeding 500,000oz.

Separately, Gateway Mining has announced a high-grade hard-rock gold discovery at its Cowza prospect within the Yandal gold project, located near Wiluna. Initial reverse circulation drilling intersected a 41-metre zone grading 2g/t gold, which included a high-grade 9-metre section at 7.5g/t gold. This result confirms the presence of primary gold mineralisation beneath previously identified shallow oxide zones. Gateway Mining is planning follow-up drilling to further test the scale and continuity of the structure.
