PLD intensifies organizational efforts for 2028 elections

The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) is intensifying its organizational efforts and internal processes ahead of the 2028 general elections. During a large assembly in Barahona, PLD President and former President Danilo Medina swore in 1,150 new members and called for massive participation in the party's internal consultation scheduled for October 18. Medina emphasized that the party has regained strength in various provinces and urged members to vote for their preferred presidential aspirant without fanaticism.

Several figures are positioning themselves for the 2028 presidential nomination. Francisco Javier García has received significant support from party members and leaders, including Simón Lizardo and Plutarco Pérez. Meanwhile, Gonzalo Castillo has been actively meeting with local leaders to present his political priorities, focusing on economic relief and energy stability. Abel Martínez, another presidential aspirant, has proposed that opposition leaders establish clear rules now to coordinate support for whichever opposition candidate reaches a potential second round in 2028.

The party is also working to strengthen its presence abroad, including recent activities in New York, and is focused on territorial reorganization across the country to reclaim power from the current administration.
