Gonzalo Plata returns to Flamengo after failed Dynamo Moscow transfer

Ecuadorian winger Gonzalo Plata has returned to Flamengo following a failed transfer to Dynamo Moscow. The move to the Russian club collapsed after Plata reportedly failed medical examinations, a claim Flamengo has contested by asserting the player is fit for high-performance football.

Plata’s return was marked by tension, as he remained in Dubai to seek other opportunities after the Russian deal fell through, causing delays in his reappearance at the Brazilian club. In a public statement, Plata expressed that he is ‘100% committed’ to Flamengo and intends to focus on the club’s upcoming objectives.

Flamengo coach Leonardo Jardim confirmed that Plata will be physically evaluated before being cleared for full training. The player has been included in the squad for the Copa Libertadores quarter-final first leg against Independiente del Valle in Quito, scheduled for September 10.
