The club’s medical department noted that the specific finding—a tendon issue in Plata’s knee—is a common occurrence in professional athletes and does not necessarily represent a clinical problem.

Dynamo Moscow’s general director, Pavel Pivovarov, described the decision as “risk management.” Simultaneously, the transfer of Matheus Martins from Botafogo, valued at approximately 7 million euros, was halted due to medical rejection. Botafogo is evaluating legal measures regarding the alleged unauthorized use of the player’s image in Russia.

Gonzalo Plata has since returned to Flamengo, stating he is “100% committed” to the club. His return follows a period of tension after he remained in Dubai to seek other opportunities following the failed Russian deal. Flamengo coach Leonardo Jardim confirmed that Plata must undergo a physical evaluation before being cleared for full training. He has been included in the squad for the Copa Libertadores quarter-final first leg against Independiente del Valle in Quito, scheduled for September 10.
