Google and GovTech Singapore partner on AI cyber defense

Google and GovTech Singapore have announced a strategic collaboration to enhance cybersecurity and combat scams through advanced AI tools. During the Singapore International Cyber Week 2026, the partnership revealed two primary initiatives.

First, Singapore will participate in Google’s Fairwind Programme, providing defenders with access to advanced cybersecurity tools such as the Gemini 4 Argon model and the CodeMender harness. These tools are designed to identify, verify, and patch software vulnerabilities at scale, potentially reducing the time required to fix flaws from weeks to minutes within secure cloud environments.

Second, GovTech Singapore is working with Google DeepMind to develop an on-device scam detection model for Android phones. Utilizing lightweight Gemma models, the system will analyze conversation patterns in real time to identify manipulative scam tactics. To maintain user privacy and navigate end-to-end encryption, the analysis occurs entirely on the device without sending private messages to cloud servers. The model will undergo local training on regional scam narratives to adapt to evolving tactics.
